PURL & GREEN MARKETING – The Perfect Storm:
As a member of the Board of Directors at Endangered Planet Foundation, I played a key role at a major four-day environmental event, One Earth | One Dream, held at the Festival of Arts grounds in Laguna Beach. It was promoted as West Coast’s premier environmental festival, featuring Innovative Exhibits, Art, Environmental Awareness, Healthy Living, Films, Music and Notable Speakers. Needless to say, the hot topic of the program was going green. Honored guests from all over the country such as Ambassador Chowdhury from the United Nations, Chris Jordan, National Geographic Eco Ambassador and Wayne Nastri, Regional Administrator of EPA presented their thought-provoking speeches on issues from Climate Change to Alternative Fuel.
I decided to take this opportunity to discuss my favorite topic, Eco-Marketing and more specifically the benefits of PURL campaigns with anyone willing to listen. Essentially, my personal belief is that all digital, data-driven direct marketing solutions are answers from Heaven in terms of eliminating waste and minimizing carbon footprints. What I was not prepared for was the incredible degree of enthusiastic acknowledgement from my audience. In fact, it literally reminded me of the Perfect Storm (Since the 2000 movie by the same name, the phrase has gained popularity and grown to mean any event where a combination of circumstances will aggravate a situation drastically). I was astounded to find that there are concentrated groups of innovative minds that are thirsty for change and ready to embrace any intelligent alternative to the status quo. Perhaps it’s O.K. to dream of sustaining the Planet for our children’s children, after all.
